Fall 2010

After a period of short absence, I share with you some of my favourite Fall 2010 collections.

Alexander McQueen had particular impact on viewers. The images that I have observed on style.com have conveyed a very tranquil atmosphere, allowing the beauty in McQueen's designs to radiate from the image on my computer screen. The models' expressions portay an element of solemnity which I think allows the viewer to really appreciate McQueen's designs and his overall vision for what presented itself as a beautiful show.

There were so many looks for Dolce and Gabbana's Fall 2010 show, and therefore presented the audience with so much beautifulness! This collection demonstrated clean tailoring, sophistication and sexiness. The film of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and employees fabricating the clothing provoked tears in the audience. I love this collection for its refined and classical aesthetic. There was also a lot of black, lace and feminine silhouettes which makes me love it even more.

I found Rodarte really beautiful this season. The clothes were so intricate with their detail and layering. I love how the Mulleavys can twist an idea such as dreamlife into something so dark and curious. I really liked the abundance of transperant fabrics and billowing material. This pair are very cutting edge and I am intruged to see what they will think of next.

The soft palette of pastel colors and billowing transleucent fabrics made me want to crawl inside my computer screen and live amongst the loveliness that is Marc Jacobs. His genius never ceases to amaze me. I adore the fact that Jacobs doesn't try to present his buyers with constantly new and cutting edge ideas. I much prefer his focus on simple, classic femininity.

Miuccia Prada's emphasis on the breasts was something that you don't see everyday in fashion with rail-thin models and a more common focus on the waist or legs. I have a [not so] secret weakness for knitwear so when I saw this collection i was immediately intruiged. If I'm honest, it always takes me a while to appreciate Miuccia's collections because the ideas that she presents us with are always so obscure compared to other designers. But I must say, those eyebrow-glasses? Oh my lordy, I want a pair.

All who know me well will know that I adore winter, this is primarily because of the amazing coats, jackets, scarfs and boots that are available in the winter time. This one of the reasons why I have a soft spot for Burberry. I love the effortless fashion in which these outfits have been compiled, fashion should be relatively easy- if someone has access to pieces of Burberry clothing then it is likely that they can throw together any of these and walk out of the door looking effortlessly stylish.

Boy by Band of Outsiders achieves a place on my list because I adore the casual and effortless air that this collection radiates. The tomboy persona of the Boy by Band of Outsiders girl seems particularly appealing to me. I think it's very street style friendly- very wearable. The beauty of this collection is that you can take any basic pieces of clothing and have them compliment each other so well.

Like Prada, Marc Jacobs directed the focus towards the chest for Louis Vuitton. The 1950's silhouette of the collection appealed to me with its indication of sophistication and glamour. I am liking the feminine air about fashion at the moment. Maybe this is just a result of months of being couped up inside, avoiding the extreme heat and now I'm just ready to emerge from my cave and enjoy mild weather that is less likely to turn my skin lobster-red. I don't know. But I like it.

I'm not sure how I can love Louis Vuitton and Proenza Schouler at the same time but I really like the grungey kind of aesthetic of Proenza Schouler. We all know Jack and Lazaro are geniuses but this just proves the matter. The fierce and strong mood that I get from this collection makes me want it more than I want an endless supply of rainbow lollipops.
